North Coast Painters 30th Anniversary Exhibition

This is an exhibition of work done by a group of women here in Bellingham who has been painting together for 30 years. The group includes: Pat Fleeson, Gerry Friberg, Esther McLatchy, Carol Merrick, Meredith Runestrand, and Carol Weiss. The show runs June 12 through June 26. The opening reception will be held 12 June from 6 – 9pm. Here is a sample of the work you will enjoy when you visit the gallery.

Laurie Potter’s “Light, Form, and Perspective”

Laurie’s exhibit will feature new pastel work that brings the viewer up close to light, form, and color interacting on foliage. New landscapes and city scenes from her travels will also be shown.

The show will be in the gallery June 5 through June 27, opening with an artist reception 6 – 10pm June 5, which is also ARTWALK.

Ship of Fools 2009

It’s that time of year again. April brings the Ship of Fools to the Blue Horse Gallery.

This is one of the best!!!!! It takes over most of the gallery, in fact all but the inner gallery.

The work is quite varied, ranging from incredible sculpture to incredible paintings. The gallery of images below will give you a feel for what is in the show. Come see for yourself. The show will run through April 15.

This show is about the strength of our community, and the comfort of home.

KulshanCLT homeowners provide the foundations of our economy. They are teachers, farmers, small business owners, bank tellers, librarians, bus drivers, construction workers, and artists. These are the people who get pushed to the edge of our towns when we don’t have housing that’s affordable at their wages.

When people have affordable and stable housing, they’re able to be more involved in their community. I would not have been able to produce this show without the security and affordability of my KulshanCLT home. Being involved with KulshanCLT has helped me see and appreciate abundance in Whatcom County.

Several works in this show talk about the comfort of home ownership through gardens, pets, and quiet moments.

Place tells a story about having enough, and sharing it with gratitude.

Ruthie V.

Ruthie V. is a fine artist, a muralist, and a paint color consultant. Her work is accessible, intelligent, playful and nourishing. Her fine art paintings have no limit on the subject matter, or on the techniques of application. Her landscapes, industrial scenes, abstractions, portraits, and pen-and-ink creative inventions have been shown in regional galleries such as the Blue Horse, Mindport, Smith & Vallee, FrameWorks, and Lucia Douglas. She paints commissioned works, portraits, murals, and helps people find paint colors for their homes and businesses.
